William Warzecha

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, William (Bill) Joseph Warzecha. He passed away December 10, 2025 at the age of 99 at his home in Preston, CT. Born on June 28, 1926 in Norwich, CT, Bill was the son of Polish immigrants, Michael and Bronislawa (Knapp) Warzecha. He married his late wife, Nancy, on September 4, 1950, in St. Patrick's Cathedral in Norwich.
He grew up together with eight siblings on Yantic Street in The Falls section of Norwich. Upon graduation from NFA, he faithfully served his country with the U.S. Army at the end of WWII and the Korean Conflict. Bill eventually became employed at Sachem Provision Co. (Grand Champions Foods) owned by the Roessler family where he worked loyally for nearly 50 years.
Bill was a lifetime parishioner of St. Joseph Polish Roman Catholic Church. He was very proud of his Polish heritage and especially loved polka music taking many trips to Pulaski Park in Three Rivers, Mass. to enjoy listening to his favorite polka bands and eating Polish food. Also, he was an avid fan of the UConn men's and women's basketball teams and the Boston Red Sox.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, wife, Nancy of seventy years, and son-in-law Gary Gardner. He was also predeceased by his sisters Julia, Lottie, and Sophie and brothers John, Leon, Matthew, and Steven. He is survived by children Linda Gardner, Bill (Kathy), Michael (Nancy), and Patrick (Lynn). He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Matthew (Carley), Emma, Sarah, and Haley. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Joseph, sister-in-law Theresa Berry and brother-in-law Carl Girasoli, and many special nieces and nephews. Olga Ayala was his compassionate caregiver for many years.
A calling hour will be held on December 20, 2025 from 9:30 am till 10:30 am at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home located at 141 Central Avenue in Norwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Church, 120 Cliff Street in Norwich at 11 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's cemetery on Boswell Avenue, Norwich
