William Francis Wehner

William Francis “Bill” Wehner, a resident of Bush, Louisiana, peacefully passed away at home on June 6, 2024, at the age of 79. Bill was a native of New Orleans and also a long time resident of Harahan, Louisiana.

Bill joins his father William F.Wehner, mother Lydia Detillieu Wehner, beloved daughter Cassandra Wehner Parfait, and great granddaughter Blakely Mizell in heavenly eternal life. He is survived by his wife and partner of 47 years Erin Conner Wehner, three sons, Cory Wehner (Lori), Chris Wehner (Cher) and Cody Wehner, his eight grandchildren, Gabrielle Wehner, Samantha Parfait Hamilton, Tabitha Parfait, Jade Teele, Courtney Wehner, Cohen Wehner, Caleb Wehner, and Kash Wehner, as well as seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He loved and was very proud of them all so very much. William is also survived by dearest siblings, Charles Wehner (Millie) and Patricia Wehner Huvall (Lloyd). 

As a young man Bill served in the United States Navy and remained a true patriot who loved his country very much. A great story teller, Bill could draw from the many hats he wore over the years. Driving for Muhleisen and Son Funeral home alone provided many stories.  He was a lifetime first responder working in law enforcement, EMS, and as a volunteer fireman for the Harahan Fire Department for over 20 + years, where he met many of his lifelong friends.

Bill was also deeply involved with Mardi Gras. He worked for all of the great carnival float builders like Blaine Kern Studios, Cantrell and Sons, and Jack Rizzuto & Co. For over 50+ years Bill was also “the man” when it came to getting those floats moving down the parade routes, organizing the tractors and drivers that brought the floats out to the routes, down the avenues and boulevards, and back to their dens. His last ride was this past Mardi Gras!

Another hat Bill wore was of a fisherman, building shrimp boats and trawling Louisiana’s beautiful waters.

Bill was a long time businessman, always working, but still found time to help his neighbors and his community. He served as president of the Bush Recreation Center where he enjoyed working with the families of Bush, a home he loved very much.

Finally, Bill’s greatest passion was his two motorcycle clubs and the work they did raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Southern Cruisers Riding Club and The Red Knights Motorcycle Club were and always will be some of his favorite people and most cherished memories.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Sunday, June 30th at 26429 Hwy 40, Bush, Louisiana from 10 - 2pm with military honors at 1:00 pm. Please join his family in celebration of their beloved husband, father, uncle and friend. Bring a chair.
