William Alton Windle

Cumberland, MD – William Alton Windle, 80, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at UPMC-Western Maryland.
Born April 23, 1945, in Cumberland, Mr. Windle was the son of the late Marvin Luther Windle and Florence Josephine "Jo" (Willis) Windle. He was also preceded in death by his wife: Dianne M. Windle, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
William served in the Maryland National Guard. He sold Life insurance for numerous agencies in the area and started the "Mail Room" in Hagerstown. William loved fishing. He was a member of the East Gate #216 A.F.&A.M., having been a Past Master in 1986 and Secretary from 1996 to 2001, and was a member of the Freedom Christian Church.
William is survived by his children: Chris Gordon and husband, Ken; and Scott Windle and wife, Jenna; and four grandchildren: Eathan and Lili Ashenfelter, and Brielle and Lennon Windle.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M., with Reverend Leo Lavin and Pastor Denny Mchael officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted at 6:45 P.M.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park at a later date.
