William Wohlfarth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home on Apr. 7, 2025.
William Jason Wohlfarth, affectionately known as Jay, age 96, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away on April 5, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held at Bonita Bay Club at a later date and will be announced.
Formerly of Darnestown, MD, Jay had been a resident of Bonita Springs for 30 years. He was the beloved husband of Susan Deibler Wohlfarth for almost 60 years.
Jay was the eldest of six children of William Jarboe Wohlfarth and Stella Storrs Waterman. He was a devoted father to seven children: Alan Wohlfarth (d), Linda Hammer, James Wohlfarth (Michelle), Christine Joyner (Billy), John Wohlfarth (Julie), Tracy Weinstein (Todd), and George Wohlfarth (Robyn). Jay is lovingly remembered by 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A talented and highly respected architect, builder, and developer, Jay contributed significantly to the Washington Metropolitan area by constructing numerous homes throughout his lifetime. He received many awards for his accomplishments, including recognition for designing the area's first passive solar house. He served as President of the Maryland Home Builders Association and was one of the founders and President of the Montgomery County Homebuilders Association.
Jay was a passionate golfer and was especially proud of his three holes-in-one. He was a lifelong member of Bethesda Country Club, where he served as president and board member for many years. For the past 30 years, Jay divided his time between his homes in Maryland and Florida and was an active member of the Bonita Bay Club.
His legacy of kindness, dedication, and creativity will forever be remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.
Memorial contributions in Jay's name may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Cir., Fort Myers, FL 33908.
