It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of William “Woody” McCallum who passed away on March 14, 2026 at the age of 79. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted pet dad.
Woody was born in Alliance, Ohio on November 29, 1946 to the late Donald & Izola McCallum He was a 1964 graduate of Marlington High School and Mount Union College in 1969. He was an insurance agent for 43 years before retiring as the co-owner of the Ermlich Insurance Agency. He enjoyed his years as an insurance agent. He was hardworking, honest and took great pride in helping his customers. He served on the Alliance Community Hospital Board for 35 years and was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance.
Woody was a man whose life was defined by love for his family, quiet strength, and a generous spirit. As a husband, he was a loyal partner and best friend for 55 years. As a father and grandfather, he was a source of wisdom, patience, and unconditional love. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in every generation that followed him. He was a protector of those he loved.
He found joy in the simple things—time spent with loved ones, laughter around the table, enjoyed working in the yard, watching the birds and the companionship of his cherished pets, especially Lily Mae, who brought him comfort and happiness in his last six years. He was an avid fan of Ohio State and Mount Union Football. His kindness, humor, and steady presence will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert McCallum; his parents, and Father and Mother-in- law, Red and Peg Micketti.
He is survived by his loving wife Michele; his sister, Shirley (Ken) Johnston; his children, Sandi McCallum (Nick) Mascitti, Christopher McCallum (Lisa Bailey); grandchildren, Austen & Hailey Zemrock, Griffen Zemrock, Elijah McCallum; great-grandchildren, Wren & Hudson Zemrock; brother-in-law, Tom (Deb) Micketti; sister- in-law, Toni (Keith) Kramer; and his nieces and their families that he dearly loved.
The family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace. His legacy of love, devotion, and family will continue to live on through those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved him.
Calling hours will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Friday, March 20th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, March 21st at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

We would like to give our heartfelt thank you to the Physicians, Nurses, Chaplin and staff who took such wonderful, compassionate care of Woody and our family. They were there to help us in any way that we needed. God Bless them all.
