William Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kilpatrick Funeral Home - West Monroe on Mar. 9, 2026.
William Jefferson Wright, Jr., age 73, of West Monroe, Louisiana, passed away on March 5, 2026, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana.

Bill was born on July 24, 1952. He spent much of his life working in sales and management and was also a home builder. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was married to his true love, Angela Wilson Wright, for 50 years, and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and love.

Bill loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Some of his most cherished moments were spent sharing those experiences with his sons and family. He was also a man of faith and attended Brownsville Assembly and The House of Prayer International.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Jefferson Wright, Sr.; his mother, Evelyn Murphy Wright; and his son, Stuart Wright.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Angela Wilson Wright of West Monroe, Louisiana; his son, Jason Wright and wife Rachael Wright; his sister, Billie French and husband Craig French; his nephew, Bobby Bryant; his mother-in-law, Mary Summers; his sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Kyle Sayers; his brother-in-law, Brandon Bentley and wife Sol; and his nieces and nephews, Jovie, Lyra, Courtney, Kelsi, and Matthew.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Rylian Wright, Madylin Duckworth and husband Tyler Duckworth, Hank Wright, Denver Wright, Marleah Campbell, and Breyden Dutton.

Bill was the sweetest and most caring man. He loved his family deeply and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He especially loved his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent fishing and hunting with his sons.

His greatest accomplishment in life was the love he gave to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and nurse practioners that have carried us through the years. May God bless you.

And all the family and friends that have been with us, we love you.

Honorary pallbearers are Jason Wright, Rylian Wright, Matthew Sayers, Harvey Stover, Charles (Cooter) Lenard and Craig French.

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Rev. Clyde Walker will be officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, West Monroe. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, prior to service.

So very sorry for Bill's passing. Such fond memories at W. M. Church of God as early teens. He enjoyed taking us riding in his new blue Cobra Mustang! Also playing baseball on Sun. afternoon at Riser School. A very nice young man and my cousin. Praying for sweet wife Angela and all family. God bless you

Yesterday

I am a chaplain with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and I met Bill and Angela two days before he died. Samaritan's Purse had been working on their property to clean up debris after Winter Storm Fern and my partner Debbie and I stopped by to check on their emotional well-being after what they had been through. Bill was a kind and gentle man and the love he and Angela had for one another was evident. I was shocked to hear he did not make it through his surgery. My heart is breaking for her and I offer my deepest sympathy.
