William "Bill" Yoo, age 82, of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 28, 1943, in Hartford, Connecticut, Bill was the son of the late Katherine Alma Yoo and William Beaupre Yoo. He graduated from East Hartford High School in 1961.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. After returning home in 1965, he married the love of his life, Barbara Pires Yoo, and began his civilian career as a jet engine analyst at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. While living in Old Lyme, Connecticut, Bill volunteered with the local fire department, reflecting his lifelong commitment to service and community. He and Barbara later moved to Cape Cod, where he began building homes and developed a passion for finish carpentry a craft he approached with great care and pride. In 1974, Bill joined the Dennis Police Department, where he served with dedication for nearly three decades. He rose through the ranks and retired as a police captain in 2002. During his time on the force, he also earned a master's degree in criminal justice, furthering his expertise and deepening his service to the field. In addition, he was a certified firearms instructor through both the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council and the NRA, generously sharing his knowledge with professionalism and care.

Bill was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed boating, fishing, lobstering, woodworking, and working on and racing cars. He also found joy in hunting, vacationing in Aruba, and spending time with friends during their regular lunch gatherings. Above all, he will be remembered for his sharp wit, his easy laugh, and the joy he brought to those around him. His sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and he was truly loved by many friends. He had a lifelong love of animals, especially his cherished dogs, Kit and Gracie, and his beloved African Grey parrot, Nikki, who brought him years of companionship and joy.

Bill is predeceased by his parents and his brother, David Yoo, all of Yarmouthport, MA. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Barbara Pires Yoo; his daughter, Kelly Haynes, and her husband, Andrew Meyers, of Sharon, MA; his son, Matthew Yoo, and his wife, Jeannette Yoo, and their children, James and Brooke Yoo, of Rochester, MA. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Christine Pires of Surprise, Arizona, and many cherished nieces and nephews in Arizona, Connecticut, and Texas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21 from 4-6pm, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 58 Long Pond Dr., South Yarmouth. His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 11am, St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara St., South Yarmouth. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery, Summer St., Yarmouthport.
