William Sherman Yost, Jr., known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at Morgantown Healthcare Center in Morgantown, WV. Born on October 12, 1930, in Wadestown, WV, Bill was a man whose kindness touched the lives of many throughout his 94 years.

Bill was the cherished son of the late William Sherman Yost and Mildred Marie Matheny Yost. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Patty Joann Sisler Yost, with whom he shared a remarkable 74 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication to their family. Bill was a loving father to his sons, Keith David Yost and Kevin Dale Yost, and was predeceased by his son Robert A. Yost and daughter-in-law Debbie Miller-Yost. His sister, Dorothy "Dottie Lou" survives him. His brothers Harry Yost and Raymond Yost, who predeceased him.

Bill's legacy extends to his adoring grandchildren, Erin Basile (Jeff), Lani Beth (Scott Smith), Jana Hess (William), Seth Yost, Kacy Gaither (Jason), Alisha Wilson (Aaron), and Brian Yost (Amanda), as well as to his several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply and took great pride in.

A man of exceptional work ethic, Bill owned and operated General Machine and Fabricating with his sons. His dedication to his craft earned him respect and admiration in the industry. Bill's commitment to his work was paralleled only by his love for farming and cattle, which were not just hobbies but passions that he pursued with the same fervor and attention to detail that he applied to every aspect of his life.

In honoring Bill's wishes, McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services.
