Mrs. Willie Mae Edwards Griffin was born March 31, 1929, to the late Elijah Carpenter Sr. and Ella Carpenter in Wabbaseka, AR. She received her education in Sherrill, AR. She remained faithful to Christ until her sunset at The Church of the Living God under the leadership of Pastor Theodis Edwards, Sr.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memories five sons: Lue Gene Shelton Sr. (June), Pastor Theodis Edwards Sr. (Bobbie), Leon Edwards Sr., Larry Edwards Sr., and David Edwards Sr. (Sue) all of White Hall, AR. Daughter-in-law and special caregiver, June Shelton. Special friend Jimmy Lee Coleman. Six brothers: Abraham Carpenter Sr., Eli Carpenter Sr. (Hazel), Nathaniel Carpenter (Virneta), Riley Carpenter Sr., & Elijah Carpenter. Eight sisters: Emma Burr (James), Josephine Watson (O.T.), Roseine Ficklin, Mildred Crane (Clarence), Mattie Craig, Loraine Davis (Demetrius), Elizabeth Yarbrough, and Elisa Collins. Thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who love her and will miss her.
Viewing 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home Pine Bluff, AR. Funeral Service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Church Of The Living God White Hall, AR by Rev. Theodis Edwards, Sr. Interment in Edwards Family Cemetery White Hall, AR by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, AR. Her body will lie in-state 1:45 p.m. until service time.
