Willie B. "Katherine" (Berry) Grinstead entered into eternal rest with the Lord on January 2, 2025, at the age of 80 years young. She was a devoted educator, teaching at St. Joan of Arc Elementary School and various New Orleans Public Schools. Katherine is survived by H.A. Grinstead, her loving husband of 59 years; Yolanda Y. Grinstead, daughter; P. Craig Grinstead, son; and Alexander S. Grinstead, grandson. Katherine is also survived by a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, the late Christine Berry, her grandparents, the late Reddick and Lola Hathorn Berry and her beloved "granddog" Tango. Family, friends and members of Old Zion Baptist Church are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service at Greater St. Stephen FGBC, 5600 Read Blvd New Orleans, LA 70127 on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with visitation to begin at 9:00 a.m. Bishop T. Delbert Robinson-Senior Pastor-Greater St. Stephen FGBC, Elder Jasmine Morton Robinson, Co-Pastor, Bishop Paul S. Morton and Dr. Debra Morton, Overseer, officiating. Interment will follow on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Sweetwater CME Church, 8154 Hwy 35 Prentiss, MS. Pastor Johnny Benjamin Barnes officiating. My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Katherine's family. I first met Katherine at the People Program. I taught her bead weaving. Her gentle and kind spirit touched me. She always had a bright smile. May you cherish the memories you have of her and be comforted during the days and years ahead.
