Willie Gene Harmon

Willie Gene Harmon, 92, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025 at his home in Weatherford.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025 in White’s Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025 in White’s Chapel of Memories.

Interment: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Abshier Cemetery, County Road 112, Hankamer, Texas 77560

Willie was the beloved son of John Arthur and Ida Epsie (New) Harmon, and the most loved upon baby brother to Audrey, Ella Mae, Melva and Dorothy. He was born August 28, 1933 in Pine Island, and was raised in the Hankamer, Baytown and Crosby Texas areas. Willie graduated from Crosby High School, married, and proudly served his country in the United States Army in White Sands and El Paso. He returned to Houston where he lovingly raised his children, with spur of the moment trips to the ocean, boating on the surrounding rivers and lakes, and many, many hours building special memories spent fishing and skiing on Sam Rayburn Lake. In 1973 he moved to Weatherford, with his children following through the years.

Willie worked hard all of his life as a welder, in the Pipefitters Local Union 211, or Millwrights Local Union in Arlington and Houston. He was always a farmer and cattleman at heart, constantly running his cattle or baling hay somewhere. Daddy’s hands were never idle.

He left an unwavering lifelong love, respect, co-conspirator and companion in his best friend, R. D. Stanley. Both of their families have watched with true amazement as these two men stood strong, unbendable, and with a strong faith against every challenge that life threw their way.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Audrey, Ella Mae, and Melva; and two grandchildren, Kasey and Codey.

With so much love, grace and memories, he will be remembered by his children, George A. (Buddy) Harmon and wife, Peggy, Joyce A. Prentice and husband, Michael, Dianna K. Tate, Ronnie G. and Adriana Harmon, Tonya Harmon, Jerry Embry and wife, Deana; and a wonderful sister, Dorothy Castoe. His legacy will continue to thrive with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and many dear friends.
