Mary Becker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Birdsong Cremations on Jan. 29, 2026.
God is love, and those who live in love live in God and God lives in them. 1 John 4.16

Mary Lou Becker lived a life defined by faith, family, and the quiet joy of making others smile. On January 4, 2026, she passed away peacefully at Methodist Hospital West, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that spanned 86 years.

A native of Crosby, Mary Lou was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She grew up in a bustling household as one of seven children. Her journey took her from the halls of Crosby High School, Baytown Junior College, and Southwestern Business University to a professional career in Houston and eventually to the snowy landscapes of Calgary, Canada. No matter where she was, Mary Lou made her house a home. She was a dedicated professional at Bellaire General Hospital and the offices of Dr. Homer Graft, but her most cherished roles were those of wife, mother, and grandmother.

For 62 years, she and Ken were a testament to enduring love. They navigated life's transitions hand-in-hand, from raising Tamara and Jeffrey to exploring the world on business travels and retirement cruises.

Mary Lou's hands were rarely still. She expressed her love through sewing and crafts, often gifting her creations to friends, family, and even the medical staff who assisted her in later years. Her faith was her North Star, and her warmth was a gift to everyone she met. She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth; her children, Tamara and her husband Peter Dowling and Jeffrey; and her grandson, George. She also leaves behind her siblings, Frank, Raymond, Bernadette, and Eugene, who will forever remember her bright spirit and generous heart.
