A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend peacefully entered eternal rest on August 3, 2025 at the age of 94. Born on May 13, 1931 in Bryant, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Inez and Goree Clemons.

A woman of dedication and integrity, Willie Mae devoted over 21 years of service as a Purchasing and Contracts Manager for the United States Army, where she worked as a civilian. Her attention to detail, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the mission she served. In 1991 she and Amos retired and moved from San Francisco to Clearlake, California.

Willie Mae's greatest joy came from comforting her family. She was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement-especially to her treasured grandchildren. Known for her unwavering presence, she proudly attended nearly all of her family's graduations and weddings, celebrating each achievement as if it were her own.

She had a deep passion for life, which she expressed through her love of Bingo and traveling, exploring new places and experiencing new cultures. Japan, Italy, Germany to name a few. She was also an avid sports fan, always in attendance at family games and ready to cheer for her favorite teams on TV.

Willie Mae's life was a beautiful example of resilience, generosity and devotion. Her warm smile, gentle wisdom, and steadfast love will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and family unity.

Willie, was preceded in death by her parents Goree and Inez; Husband Amos Lathan Hewitt Sr.; Siblings, James Clemons, Ruby Robinson and Catherine Elarms; Brothers- In- Law, Fred Stewart, Rob Robinson and Luther Elarms; Son-in-law Marice Sonnier Sr. and Grandsons, Jimmy D. Smith and Maurice Sonnier Jr.

She leaves to cherish in her memory her children, Amos Jr., Anthony (Tony), Maria Antionette Washington and Rolinder (Linda) Sonnier, daughters- in-law, Rhonda and Marilyn, sister Lettie Green and brother-in-law Dr. Robert L. Green. Her celebration of life also included three generations of grandchildren, great- grand children, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends including her Bingo ride or die special friends.
