Willie Lee Hollins, 66, of Freeport, IL, passed on from this earthly life Wednesday August 27, 2025 at Parkshore Skilled Nursing Center in Chicago, IL.
Willie was born September 5, 1958 in Dermott, AR, the son of Clara Hollins and Esley Whitley. Willie grew up in Freeport, Illinois and attended St. James CME Church. Willie would always visit whenever he was in town. He enjoyed martial arts, gardening, and being around family. Willie was an avid talker with an incredible ability to recall word for word, conversations shared with others that spanned decades prior. Willie loved people, always wanting and willing to help anyone who was in need. His faith, belief in and love for God was genuine.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory five siblings, Shirley (Michael) Hollins-Boggess, Shutehu (Susan) Ra, Matthew Whitley, Marlee (James) Canada, and Chester Hollins; and special God Mother Nannie Edison. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends as well.
Preceding Willie in death are his parents, brother Walter Hollins and niece Kasia Whitley.
Rest In Peace Willie.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday September 6, 2025 at St. James CME Church in Freeport, Rev. Dr. T. Marcellus Thomas officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded following the service.
