Willie Jordan Jr. was born on August 7, 1948, in Joliet, IL to Willie Sr. and Mary Lucille Jordan. He departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2024.
Willie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church. He loved to play the drums and earned the spot of section leader in the Joliet Central band. He could also be found playing for the Gousters. A well-known band around town who played a mix of rock and roll and soul.
Willie enlisted into the U.S Navy in 1968 and served honorably until 1970. He attended Governors State University where he developed his eye for photography, which afforded him the opportunity to take pictures for a plethora of events around town and in Chicago. Willie worked for Caterpillar for 10 years and afterwards for Harpo Studios where he retired in 2011.
Willie loved his cars, especially his 1970 442 Oldsmobile Cutlass that he raced (and mostly won so we're told) on Laraway Road. Later he owned a 68' Chevy which earned him the nickname "Mystery Shift". Primarily because the shifter was somehow installed backwards, and he was the only one who knew how to drive it.
Willie is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sr. and Mary Lucille Jordan.
Willie is survived by his daughters, Tiffany (Gregory) Thompson and Candace (Dawayne) Bridges; son, Cory (Andrea) Jordan; brother, Joe Jordan; granddaughters, Raquel Thompson and Zuri Jordan; grandsons, Tyler Bridges, Miles Bridges, and Isaiah Thompson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and the loving church family of Brown Chapel A.M.E.
