MURPHY: A Service Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Mr. Willie James Murphy, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia will be held Thursday, January 22, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Legacy Funeral Home Chapel, 8968 Fayetteville Road Jonesboro, Georgia; Mr. Satchel Jester, Jr., Officiant and Dr. Stacey Harris-Twyman, Eulogist. Interment, private. A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Home. Survivors are son, Willie James Murphy, III; daughters, Shaquana Ezzard, and Wyteria Ezzard; siblings, Cora Foster, Mary Herring, Patricia Murphy, Deborah (Satchel) Jester, James (Sandra) Murphy, Sr., Lisa (Rickey) Hooks, and Derrick (Melanie) Murphy, Sr.; former wife, Bridgette Favors Murphy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the chapel at 10:30 a.m.

Wow, this is shocking. I lost my mom the week of Christmas and still mourning. During our high school days, he'll be remembered as the crazy kind of funny. Everyday was a memory. May he rest in heavenly peace.
