Willie Odom Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home - Kinder on Dec. 21, 2025.
Willie "Dewayne" Odom, age 64, of Oakdale, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. Dewayne was born on September 7, 1961, in Elizabeth, Louisiana, to Willie Odom and Louise Rodriguez Odom. Raised in a loving family, Dewayne's warmth and kindness touched everyone he met.

Dewayne was a proud member of the Four Winds Tribe, known by his Indian name, Bad Dog. He was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Church of Oakdale. He found deep joy in carpentry work and treasured moments spent playing Bingo and fishing with his close friends, Lil' Johnny and Kenneth Dale, and their sons. Dewayne's love of cooking shone through as he prepared meals for the men of Lighthouse Church - Oakdale alongside Lil' Johnny at Brother Jerry Odom's house. His heart of gold, infectious generosity, and welcoming spirit meant he never met a stranger and was always eager to lend a helping hand.

Among his greatest joys was caring for his beloved FurBaby, "Baby Girl". Dewayne's legacy is carried on by his friends and family who will forever cherish his memory.

Dewayne is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Louise Odom; paternal grandparents, Mayo and Myrtle "Totsie" Odom, maternal grandparents, Kelly and Lena Willis Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Lighthouse Church - Oakdale, 229 E George B. Mowad Highway, Oakdale, Louisiana 71463. Services will be officiated by Pastor Brandon Willis and Reverend Shannon Buxton. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, 730 Hopewell Road, Pitkin, Louisiana 70656.

Dewayne will be fondly remembered for his selfless spirit, deep friendships, and unwavering generosity. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
