Willie Harold Thornton, age 86, of Baxley passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Cotton Grove Estates in Jesup under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
Mr. Thornton was born November 30, 1938 in Appling County to the late Evans Thornton and the late Odell Williams Thornton. He was a member of Consolation Baptist Church and retired as a shop foreman after 22 years with the Appling County Road Department. Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Thornton, Kenneth Thornton, Alton Lee Thornton, and Bobby Gene Thornton, and sisters, Faye Thornton, Olene Eason and Mary Francis Thornton.
Survivors include his children, Tammy (Tim) Griffis and Kathy (Mitchell) Bryant, and brothers, Frank (Hilda) Thornton and Donnie (Randi) Thornton. Five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Brenda Edenfield, Lori Futch and Callie Williams.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in the Thornton Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Adam Bryant, Dillan Bryant, Ridge Lovett, Reid Lovett, Rusty Lovett and Auty Edenfield.
Visitation will be from 2:30 until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Swain Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
