W. Jean Jenkins, 96, passed away July 30, 2022, at Sunrise Seigen Assisted Living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born January 26, 1926, in Athens Louisiana to Harman A Shaver and Ether Linda Treadwell Shaver. Jean graduated from Minden High School in Minden Louisiana in 1943 and moved to Galveston Texas in 1944. Jean was the best friend and beloved wife since September 6, 1947, to Earl Jenkins. She was a devoted mother and homemaker to Dianne Jenkins Turgeon married to Robert L Turgeon of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and their daughters Stephanie Dianne Turgeon (deceased 8/28/15) and Melissa Gail Turgeon and her daughter Reagan Elizabeth of Richardson, Texas, and daughter Karen Jenkins Koonsman and her husband Paul Koonsman of Gordon, Texas and their children Amy and David Powell, Jon and Jennifer Koonsman and Brazos, and Becky McMichael and son and great and great great grands, and other nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Neva Helms of Sa Antonio, Iva Lee Williams of Minden and Marguerite Mayes of Kerrville, husband Edward Earl Jenkins, and sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth Warren of Galveston. Jean was a member of Moody Memorial First Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Shrine Burns Institute, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Hospice of Baton Rouge, or the charity of your choice.
