Wilma Boquist Obituary
September 3, 1937 - May 4, 2025
Wilma J. Boquist, 87, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul. Pastor Jim Skrobo will be offering words of comfort. A Private Family Interment will be held in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Howard County Medical Center Foundation.
Wilma Jean (Lammers) Wessel Brenton Boquist was born on September 3, 1937, to William R. and Matilda (Munster) Lammers in Pleasanton, Neb. She attended Pleasanton High School.
In 1956, she married James L Wessel, and to this union, three daughters, Jean, Christine, and Susan Wessel were born. James Wessel passed away in 1973.
Wilma later married Gary Brenton in September of 1973 in Tucson, Ariz. and with this marriage, Wilma was honored in accepting a stepson, Bob Brenton. They moved to Denver, Colo., where they made their home until Gary passed away in 1990.
Wilma worked for US West in Colorado and then transferred to Omaha in 1990. It was there she met her future husband, Harold Boquist. Harold and Wilma were married in 1996 in Minneapolis, Minn. and returned to Omaha to live until retirement in 2002, when they moved to St. Paul, Neb.
Wilma was a caring person and volunteered for several organizations in Howard County. She was known as the Daffodil Lady, selling daffodils for the American Cancer Society.
From 2004-2023, Wilma scheduled workers for the Howard County Thrift Store, as well as volunteering at the store. Wilma was also a caller to remind donors when their appointments were for the Bloodmobile. She volunteered for the Red Cross in Howard County for many years.
Wilma and Harold took pride in their involvement and membership in the Central Antique Tractor and Equipment Club. The couple built tractors and showed them at several events, including the Nebraska State Fair, parades, and exhibits.
She collected outhouses and was known as the Outhouse Lady.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 28 years, Harold; daughters, Jean (Jim) Kehm of St. Paul, Christine (Tom) Rock of Omaha, and Susan (Don) Aldred of Orlando Fla.; grandchildren, Maegan (Kelly) Felber, Katie (William) Winter, Kelsey (Rileigh) Woodward, Alex Rock, Sean (Richelle) Rock, Connor (Liz) Rock; great-grandchildren, Gabe Winter, Xavier Winter, Hadrian Woodward, Aurelius Woodward, Augusta Woodward, and Charlotte Rock, and brother, Leroy (Donna) Lammers; and many nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; siblings and spouses, Minnie (Elmer) Bauer, Henry Lammers, Warren (Rosella) Lammers, Lucille (Henry) Gilster, and Edith (James) Stoll.
