Wilma Butner

Sara Wilma Moses Butner, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2025, after a period of in-home hospice. Wilma was a lifelong Middle TN resident who enjoyed sewing, painting, bird watching, and spending time with her family and loved ones. She never met a child she did not love as if they were her own, and she leaves behind many people who call her Granny. She was selfless, benevolent, and loyal. Wilma was a woman of faith who read her Bible nightly and believed in the power of prayer. She was a long-time member of Tusculum and Crieve Hall Churches of Christ. During her time on this earth, she touched countless lives with her loving arms and gentle spirit and will be missed more than words can describe. While this world will be darker without her, we take solace in knowing she is in a place filled with light. Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Hollis Moses and Mary Fagan Moses; husband, Claude Butner; sisters, Nell and Virginia; brothers, Elgin, Ralph, and Wendell, and brother-in-law, Marshall (Nell). She is survived by sons, Rex (Marcela) and Joey (Debra); daughter, Claudia Sharafi; and sister-in-law, Lynda Moses. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family and friends she loved dearly: Melody, Matthew, Mollie, Sara, Linda, Jason, Lexi, Kim, Alex, Jeanne, Laura, Isabella, Gabriella, Juan, Adalene, Amy, Bonnie, Scott, Shirley, Jamie, Nicki, Christina, Haley, Brenden, Stephanie, Joscelyn, Jaelin, Sariah, Andrew, Mary Jo, the Konecnes, and many others. Funeral Services will be conducted by Bill Watkins on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park 660 Thompson Lane following the service. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m.at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 615-331-1952.
