It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilma Mazie Doucet, who passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on April 30, 1936, in Mermentau, Louisiana, Wilma spent many years as The Home Interior Queen of Louisiana where she continued her craft of design for the rest of her lifetime.
Wilma was known for her outgoing spirit and her joy in sharing her homemade canning with friends. She had a creative touch that showed in her love for interior decorating and making beautiful wreaths. Family vacations were a highlight of her life, filled with laughter and cherished memories.
Wilma is survived by her beloved daughter, Olita (Barry Daigle) Green, her sister Elzina Buller, and her treasured grandchildren: Allen (Ashley) Lakey, Danny (Amanda) Heichelheim, and Brooke (Mike) McDaniel, numerous great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and soon to be great-great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. They will forever carry her memories in their hearts.
To celebrate Wilma's life, a public viewing will be held at Miguez Funeral Home on September 27, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM until 1:30 PM. A Rosary will take place at 1:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest following the service at Andrus Cove Cemetery.
Wilma's warmth and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In remembering her, let us honor her spirit by sharing our love and kindness with others, just as she did.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Doucet; parents Willis and Eugenia Broussard; brothers, Wille Lee (Bruce) Broussard, Buddy Joeseph (B.J.) Broussard, and a great granddaughter, Shelby Harvey.
