Wilma Foskey Obituary

Wilma Edith Powell Foskey passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025. She was born on January 22, 1933, the second child of Gladys Bailey Powell Roberson and Robert Lee Powell, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy T. Foskey; sisters, Betty Ellis and Janice Donaldson; and brothers, James T. Powell and Robert Lee Powell.

In 1949, Wilma married the love of her life, Roy T. Foskey, in Dublin, Georgia. Together, Roy and Wilma were exceptional parents who created many beautiful memories with their children and grandchildren until Roy was taken by cancer in 1987.

Continuing life without Roy, Wilma discovered a gift for baking. She became known for her delicious cakes - from elegant wedding cakes to birthday cakes that brightened countless celebrations. Her talent quickly became widely recognized, and she was much in demand throughout the community. Born into a family blessed with many talents, Wilma herself was also a gifted seamstress, artist, and cook.

Her church and her faith played a central role in her life. For a number of years, Wilma taught the kindergarten Sunday school class, which at times included her own grandchildren. As an active member of the Missionary Society, she enjoyed writing letters to missionaries and sharing their responses with others. Always willing to serve, she faithfully prepared communion for the church for many years.

Wilma's giving spirit extended beyond her church. She volunteered her time with both the March of Dimes and the Red Cross, always looking for ways to help others.

Her children grew up learning more by her example than by her words. She showed them the value of hard work, kindness, and perseverance through the way she lived her life. One of her favorite sayings, "can't never could," reminded them that giving up was never an option - and that with determination, anything was possible. Her quiet strength and the example she set remain the greatest lessons she gave her family.

Wilma is survived by her children: William Ray Foskey (Ann), Deborah Ann Graham (Roger Folsom), Beverly Gay Grimes (Jimmy), and Henry Wayne Foskey (Tina). She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Chris Hatcher, Michelle Foskey, William Foskey, Nicholas Graham, Michael Graham (Jennifer), Brad Grimes (Kimberly), Eric Grimes (Shay), Shannon Spires (Jon), Dana Oxford (Blaine), and Thomy Foskey (Macey), along with numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Dublin First Church of the Nazarene, 312 Telfair Street, Dublin, GA 31021, with the funeral service to follow. Rev. Don Hicks will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted at Northview Cemetery, North Franklin Street, Dublin, GA.

Pallbearers will be William Foskey, Chris Hatcher, Thomy Foskey, Jon Spires, Blaine Oxford, and Eric Grimes.

Wilma Edith Powell Foskey lived a life of faith, service, and love. She will be remembered for her giving heart, her many talents, and the lessons she leaves behind for generations to come.
