It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Lena Knight Foskey, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted friend, who gracefully touched the lives of all she met. A funeral service is planned for Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene, 591 Mt. Olive Church Rd, Wrightsville, GA 31096 with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ronnie Griffin and Kevin Wiggins will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family invites those who knew and loved Lena to join them in celebrating her remarkable life.
Born on September 17, 1934, in Wrightsville, Georgia, Lena embodied the spirit of her beloved community and remained an unwavering presence to her family and friends throughout her life. A dedicated member of Shurlington Church of the Nazarene, Lena's faith was the foundation of her life. She brought warmth and kindness to her community, exemplifying love in her everyday actions. Her career as a Salesclerk at Macon Transfer provided her with a network of friends and acquaintances who respected and admired her for her work ethic and gentle spirit. Lena's passions were simple yet profound: she loved her family dearly, embraced her faith wholeheartedly, and was dedicated to her church community. Her infectious smile and nurturing soul were a beacon of light, teaching those around her the true meaning of love and devotion.
Despite the sorrow of loss, Lena's legacy lives on through her children: Betty Wood of Dry Branch, Debbie Patterson of Gray, Joel Foskey of Dry Branch, and Jeffery (Charlotte) Foskey of Gray; seven grandchildren: Amy (Eric) Decker, Jeremy (Samantha) Patterson, Trish (Kevin) Wiggins, Tiffany (Brandon) Carr, Ashley (Jesse) Perkins, Emily (Daniel) Cox, and Ellen (David) Hodges; and twelve great-grandchildren: Cayden and Allyssa Decker, Harley, Lauren, and Austin Patterson, Brittany (Ty Odom), Kaleb (Taylor Brooks), and Brylie Wiggins, Kaitlin and Natalie Carr, Charlie and Riley Cox. She also leaves behind an adoring family, including her siblings Earl (Mildred) Knight, Edwin Knight, Lavon (Paul) Keen, Jackie (Troy) Lyles, Shirley Dixon, and Doyle (Jenny) Knight, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were fortunate to bask in her love and wisdom. Lena was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Remus Foskey, whose companionship was a cornerstone of her happiness. She was also preceded by her parents, Pink Knight and Maude Haywood Knight, son-in-law Pat Patterson, and her siblings: Nellie Garnto, Sharon Brantley, Barbara Page, and Jimmy Knight.
As we reflect on Lena Knight Foskey's life, let us honor her memory not in sadness but in gratitude for the gift of her presence among us. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by love and light.
Donations in Lena's memory may be made to Shurlington Church of the Nazarene, 2160 Shurling Drive, Macon, GA 31211.
