Burial at the Paola Cemetery.
Wilma was born October 3, 1928 to Earl and Minnie Marie (Marcum) Milam in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
She met and married Paul Butler in 1945 after Paul finished his service in the Army during World War II. They became the parents of four children while farming in rural communities around Butler, Missouri. They then moved to Kansas living around Paola. This marriage ended in divorce, and she later married John Hoffman.
Wilma was a hard worker and helped Paul run a café in Paola for a brief time. She also worked at the Paola Sewing Factory for some time and later as an aid at Osawatomie State Hospital.
She loved to sew and she made her own clothes. She would sew and do alterations for family, friends and customers.
Wilma loved people and worked for several elderly residents of Paola, helping to cook meals and clean houses for them. She also took care of children for a few families of Paola. Wilma enjoyed buying and refinishing old furniture. It was the search at auctions and garage sales that excited her. She never had a surplus of money, but always found a way to find extra work to help provide for her family.
Wilma enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls and pies.
She is preceded in death by her husband John, parents, stepfather Tom Jensen, brothers Clifford Milam and TC Jensen, sisters Claudine Fritch, Lydia Lynn and Jane Jennings, great granddaughter Lacey Penn and grandson Jacob Rhea.
Wilma is survived by her children; Richard (Cheryl) Butler, Wayne (Dana) Butler, Patricia Chester and Pamela Thiel, nine grandchildren Stanley (Sonya) Butler, Treva Mondry, John (Misty) Butler, Michael Butler, Sharon (Jim) Cater, Travis (Mary-Ann) Butler, Lindsay (Chip) Kirkaldie, Jack (Amy) Rhea, Sam Butler, 26 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren, three sisters Frances Lawrence, Bonnie (Jerry) Miller and Bessie Hartshorn and many nieces and nephews.
