Our beloved family matriarch, Wilma Mae (Dove) Long, born March 19, 1938, in Jasper, IN, to Winford and Opal (Hill) Dove, passed away peacefully in her own home surrounded by so much love, laughter, comfort and peace from her beloved family and friends on January 28, 2025. She was at peace knowing she was going to join the Lord. We know she is standing hand in hand with the Lord and her adorning husband of 30 years, Harold Everett Long Sr., whom she married on July 10, 1958 and proceeded her in death on July 8,1988.

Wilma was the proud mother to David (Diana) Long, Joseph (Karen) Long, Dona (Mark) Swan, Harold "Boo" (Beverly) Long, Jr.; the doting grandmother to Crystal (Brian) Hickey, Stefanie Hudgins, Duston Hudgins, Kiegan (Angel) Long, Abby Long, Sasha Long, Celeste (Cody) Smith, Josh (Taylor) Long, Elliot (Ashley) Long, and Ethan Long; great-grandmother to 21; and will be the great, great-grandmother of 1 in March. She was raised the proud sister to 11 amazing siblings, Bob, Bill, Jim, Larry, Jerry, Winnie, Nelly, Anna, Geneva, Marty, and Debbie.

She was a member of the LaPorte VFW, where she enjoyed time with friends and many great Friday nights of Bingo. Wilma was also a member of the Masonic Temple as an Eastern Star.

Wilma was a proud high school graduate, after earning her diploma later in her life, which was a personal goal she set and achieved for herself and was very proud to achieve. She worked very hard and very happily for many years at Sunshine Cleaners in Cookeville, TN, with her loving husband and great friends. After moving back to LaPorte, IN, she enjoyed working at the LaPorte Hospital for many years before she retired.

Wilma is best described as sweet, sassy, spunky, loving, "call it like she saw it", quick-witted, with a great sense of humor, giver of the best one-liners, and the life of the party. She was a lover of God, family, friends, music, Bingo, puzzles, Four Winds Casino, game playing and many special and fun times at Cambridge Square Apartments with her best friends, Judy Sullivan as her best friend and sidekick, Vicki Noble and Ashley Schmitt, to name a few. Wilma also had countless fun times with her long-time best friend, Karen Womack. She had a vast number of amazing friends that she cherished so much. Wilma's family wishes to thank all of Wilma's friends for all their love and friendship over the years..."You meant the world to her".

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. She will be inurned at a private family service at Pine Lake Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest joining her beloved, Husband Harold.

A Celebration of her life...that was well lived, with all of you...will be held at the LaPorte VFW on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 4 - 6 p.m. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 6 p.m., at the VFW. Both the gathering and service are open to her family and all her cherished friends who would like to join.

Memorial Contributions, in loving memory of Wilma Long, are much appreciated and may be made to the La Porte VFW, The La Porte Masonic Temple and Eastern Stars, Salvation Army, as well as the donor's choice.

Wilma will be missed beyond measure and will never be forgotten by all that loved her.  Until then... "You've Got it Babe"
