Wilma Mofield Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oak Ridge Funeral Care - Haines City on Jan. 21, 2026.
Wilma June Mofield, of Polk City, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 24, 1944, in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, to Robert W. and Pauline Mays Smith. Wilma was a longtime resident of Florida and dedicated 35 years of service as a garden shop manager before retiring in 2018.

Wilma enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending quality time with her grandchildren. She was a one-of-a-kind woman-strong-willed and stubborn at times, yet outgoing, outspoken, friendly, caring, and deeply compassionate. Her personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her, and she will be fondly remembered for her honesty, warmth, and love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pauline Smith; her husband, John H. Mofield; her brothers, Robert Dale Smith and George Enis Smith; her grandson, Johnathan Spivey; and her stepmother, Mildred Smith. Wilma is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Andrew) Hoppen of Polk City, FL; her brother, Terry Smith of Haines City, FL; her sisters, Betty Waldrup of Deland, FL, Shirley Wiggins of Jasper, FL, Jo Ann Daniels of Fort White, FL, and Joyce Mehaffey of Haines City, FL; her grandchildren, Samantha Spivey, Justin Vrell, Tabitha Brookins, and Jeffrey Spivey; and her great-grandchildren, Austin, Teigan, Riley, Maci, Annabella, and Kathrine.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, Florida.
