Mrs. Wilma Lee Murray, 98, passed away Sunday (August 17, 2025) at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities following a short illness.

She was born in Pierce County to the late Estell Sweat and Emma Waters Sweat. She was a former seamstress with Waycross Sportswear and had also worked at Baptist Village in housekeeping and laundry for several years. In her spare time she enjoyed visiting thrift stores and yard sales. She also had a passion for word search books and taking care of her lawn where she grew various flowers. In her later years she loved taking bus trips with the Young at Heart group. She was a longtime member of Mt. Green Church of God of Prophecy in Millwood.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Joe Murray; three sons, Freddy Murray, Billy Murray, and Larry Murray; six siblings, Juanita Sowell, James Sweat, Emmalene McDaniel, Virgil Sweat, Tommy Sweat, and Ruth Thomas.

She is survived by three daughters, Annette Ursrey (late Pat) of Waycross, Jacquelyn Snellgrove (Robert) of Waycross, and Annice Courson (late Larry) of Macclenny, FL; and two sons, Darrell Murray (late Thurza) of Baxley and Dale Murray (Sandie) of Millwood; 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and 16 great great grandchildren; a sister, Sadie Musgrove (Harvey) of Millwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (August 20, 2025) at Mt. Green Church of God of Prophecy in Millwood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at the church on Wednesday at 10 o'clock.
