Wilma Julia Prusinski (Zeman), 82, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024. Born on April 28, 1942, to Sophie and George Zeman, Wilma lived a life filled with love, devotion, and community.
On August 29, 1961, she married her beloved husband, David Prusinski, and they celebrated 63 wonderful years together. Wilma was a dedicated mother to her three children: David C. Prusinski (Perry Donnelly), Cheryl Prusinski (Kim Sutton), and Kenneth Prusinski. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to ten grandchildren, one "adopted" granddaughter, and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness to her life.
A passionate advocate for the Deaf community in Cleveland, Ashtabula, and Columbus, Wilma was deeply involved in various organizations, serving in multiple capacities. She cherished her time volunteering as a Blue Bird leader for young Deaf children, helping to nurture their growth and confidence. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler, participating in leagues with other Deaf women. She was also proud to be part of the Cleveland Association for the Deaf women's softball team.
Most recently, Wilma devoted her time to the Ohio School for the Deaf Athletic Booster Club, supporting young athletes. Wilma's warmth and spirit touched many lives, and she will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her family and community. In her later years, she encouraged David to move from Ashtabula to Delaware, Ohio, to be closer to her grandchildren, a testament to her love for family.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love. Wilma will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she impacted.
A celebration of her life will be held at Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio, 43015 on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 2 p.m. with a gathering prior from 1 – 2 p.m. In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Deaf Services Center, Deaf World Against Violence Everywhere, or Ohio School for the Deaf Athletic Booster Club.
