Floyd Prusinski, 83, of Dyer, IN, formally of Whiting, IN, peacefully passed away in his home with his wife by his side on June 6, 2024.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy (Sanders Davis Prusinski), who were married on July 20, 1990.
Children include; Darren (Paula) Prusinski of Appleton, WI, Debi (Chris Sr.) Prusinski Gierymski of Highland, IN, Nick (Connie) Davis of Celina, TX and Shauna (Phil) Davis Madden of Flossmoor, IL. One brother; Ronald Sr. (Sonia) Prusinski of Millbrook, AL.
Floyd was an incredibly involved "Papa" blessed with 15 grandchildren 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who were the love of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Evelyn (Cyborski) Prusinski and Florian Prusinski of Whiting, IN.
Floyd was born on April 18, 1941, in Chicago, IL and was a 1959 graduate of George Rogers Clark in Whiting, IN, then attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.
In his earlier years, Floyd was drafted to the Cincinnati Reds as a pitcher but suddenly ended after receiving a bad injury. He went on to race for the NHRA with his Top fuel engine dragster and funny car sponsored by "The Damn Yankees".
Floyd had the gift of leadership and helping others. He headed Teamster Locals #753 and #754 for several years in the Dairy division until he retired at age 73.
Floyd loved sports, but especially college basketball and Bobby Knight. His love for fishing with his son was his favorite thing in the world to do as well as traveling with his wife.
Floyd will leave a big void in the life of all who loved him.
A graveside service will be held at the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery with date to follow. We ask no flowers be given, but donations will be accepted for the families wishes.
