Wilma J. Ruttgen, age 94, of Parsons, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025. She was born on June 27, 1931, in Oswego, Kansas. On February 22, 1952, she and Robert Ruttgen were united in marriage.
Wilma spent her life grounded in faith and guided by a deep commitment to serving others. A dedicated member of Mother of God Catholic Church, she gave countless hours of her time and talents in service to her parish. She served faithfully as the church secretary for 25 years and was a past president of St. Mary's Altar Society.
Wilma's community involvement extended far beyond her church. She volunteered at Oswego's Senior Center and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Senior Citizens Board of Directors. She was also a proud member of the VFW Bryant-Sykes Auxiliary #3399 in Oswego, Kansas.
She is survived by her children Mari Anne Hansen (Chris), Parsons and Mike Ruttgen, Owasso, two grandchildren Melanie McMurphy (Ryan), Topeka and Adam Hansen, Cherokee, great-grandchildren Callan, Peyton, Adam Jr., Jordan, Fallon and Sutton and siblings Judy Coburn and Jean Tullis, Joplin and Lloyd Holmes, Newton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Lloyd and Gladys Holmes, siblings Wayne Holmes and Opal Shanks and one great-grandchild Pearson.
Friends may call at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 405 Main St, Parsons on Tuesday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The parish rosary will be held at Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego on Tuesday, July 22 at 6:00 PM with visitation to follow. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Mother of God Catholic Church. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
