Wilma Jean Taylor, born to Paul and Patience Ballance on January 21, 1942, embodied strength, love, and unwavering faith throughout her remarkable life, which came to a peaceful close on February 8, 2024. 


In her youth, Wilma found joy and camaraderie as a Girl Scout, forming enduring friendships and acquiring invaluable skills that would shape her future. Her steadfast devotion to her faith was evident in her acts of kindness and compassion, reflecting the teachings of Christ she held dear. 


One cherished memory for Wilma was the train rides she shared with her father, who served as a conductor. The rhythmic chugging of the train and the picturesque landscapes passing by filled her heart with joy, leaving an indelible mark on her soul. 


Wilma's life took on added purpose when she assumed the role of caregiver to her siblings in times of need. Affectionately known as "Mama Jean" by her siblings, she provided unwavering care and guidance, exemplifying her nurturing and selfless nature. 


Creativity flowed through Wilma's veins, evident in her pursuits of sewing, crafting, fishing, and cooking. She also held a deep love for sports, particularly following the journey of the Kansas City Chiefs football team. 


Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, Walter "Jim" Taylor, in 1986, sister Sue Ballance, step-sister Celia Carter, granddaughter Tosha Sparks, great-grandson Derrick Sparks, and sons-in-law; Albert "Rusty" Bowman and David Sparks. She is survived by her beloved soulmate, Bill Cravens; her children, Viola P. Bowman, Paul W. Taylor, Becky J. Sparks, and Andrew J. Taylor, as well as his fiancée, Clariztbel Flores; stepson Billy Cravens; stepdaughter Jamie; brothers James Balance, Jay Carter, and Shannon Carter; sisters Paula Osborn, Kay Ballance, and Billy Ballance; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cherished family members and friends. 


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association in honor of Wilma's memory, recognizing her struggle with COPD
