Wilma Jean Thurnau, 96, of Craig, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Fairfax Community Hospital.

She was born in Craig on May 13, 1929 to John R. and Emma R. (Siekmann) Dougherty, and graduated from Craig High School. On October 12,1947 she married Charles W. Thurnau and they became parents of three sons.

Wilma was a homemaker, and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, and served with the Ladies Aid. One of her favorite pastimes was shopping with her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and three sisters and their husbands, Mary Elizabeth (Dale) Felumb, Evelyn (Eugene) Wake, and Helen (Ernest) Sterling.

Survivors include her sons, Lynn (Marilyn) Thurnau, Curtis W. Thurnau, and Chris (Karen) Thurnau; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services: Wednesday, April 1, 2026, 11:00 am, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Craig I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the cemetery.
