Norma J. McCurry

Norma Jeanne McCurry passed peacefully on March 10, 2026. She was born March 27, 1933, to Joseph and Lottie (Baker) Bruntmyer, in Mound City. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1951.

Norma retired from St. Joseph Light and Power in 1999, where she had worked for 43 years. She continued to keep in touch with "her boys" right up to the time of her passing. Norma was also a member of the Mound City Presbyterian Church and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study group. She tirelessly served the Holt County Historical Society in her retirement and served many years on the board.

Norma, known as "MeeMee" and "Auntie" by those who were closest to her, loved Kansas Jayhawks basketball. She was also passionate about genealogy, searching for her family history and Holt County cemeteries. Norma loved her family and friends, and if you met her even once you were considered a friend.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Jolee (Keith) Sisney of Blue Springs; two granddaughters, Andrea (Matthew) Zieger of Liberty, Kaitlyn (Chris) Camie of St. Louis; two great-granddaughters, Parker Jeanne and Austen Diane Zieger; two nephews, Harold (Karen) Bruntmyer of Mound City, Rick (Mary) Bruntmeyer of St. Joseph; her "other daughter" Kimberly Schaeffer of Skidmore; her beloved cat, Annie, and many other extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lottie Bruntmyer, and her brother Bobbie Bruntmyer.

Visitation will be at Chamberlain Funeral Home Mound City at 10 am on March 16, 2026 with services following at 11:30 am. Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery.
