Mary Kresak Obituary
June 6, 1958 - December 30, 2025
Mary Frances Kresak, 84, of Ashland, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Southlake Village Rehab and Care Center in Lincoln, NE. She was born January 1, 1941 in Bellevue, NE to Rudolph and Antonette (Benak) Duda. Mary graduated from Bellevue High School in 1959. On June 6, 1959, Mary was united in marriage to Edward Eugene Kresak at St. Mary Catholic Church in Bellevue, NE.
In Mary's younger years, she worked at the candy store, and she worked as a waitress. She raised chickens and sold eggs to the local Ashland grocery store. She farmed with her husband and she helped raise livestock. She also played acoustic, electric and slide guitar, and she gave lessons.
Mary was a past member of the Wann Ladies Aid, and she was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ashland. She enjoyed baking and she was the best bread maker. She was a seamstress and she enjoyed quilting. She spent many hours canning vegetables, and she was an advocate for homesteading. Mary loved to live off the land. She loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her sons, Edward David Kresak and Eugene Clarence (Teresa) Kresak; grandchildren, Christine Elisabeth (Ben) Johnson, Kathleen Marie (Taku) Mongoro, Kayla Antonette (Adam) Herron, and Colby Ashton (Sophia) Kresak; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Noah, Gracie and Bethany Johnson, Simbarashe, Tinotenda and Paidamoyo Mongoro, and Olivia Herron; brother, Rudy (Joyce) Duda; many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Edward Eugene Kresak and granddaughter, Claire Terese Kresak.
Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1625 Adams St., Ashland, NE. Celebrant, The Rev. Gary Coulter
Visitation, Monday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. with 11:00 a.m. Rosary all at Church.
Interment at Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, NE.
Memorials to the Ashland Rescue Squad.
