Wilmouth A. Elmes

Wilmoth A Elmes of Jackson, NJ died peacefully at home on Tuesday November 5, 2024 at the age of 78. Born in Pembroke, Bermuda he lived in Ewing NJ for 20 years before moving to Jackson in 2024. Wilmoth was known for his love of math and science and continuous learning. He received his Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University and was considered an expert in his field. He traveled the world designing mechanical and electrical systems for some of the largest buildings in the world; developed the master engineering plans for the renovation of the US Senate and House of Chambers before retiring from his final position at Columbia University as Vice President of Engineering and Technical Services in 2018. Wilmoth loved music and was self-taught on classical guitar. He enjoyed astronomy, gardening, good food, and travelling the world for work. He is predeceased by his sister, Vera Bernice Pearman. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Daisy Elmes; daughter, Rhonda Metz (Mark); son, Michael Elmes (Elena); brother, Hubert Hendrickson Sr (Junie); 5 grandchildren, John, Jasmine, Alexander, William and Sofia; and his former wife, Yolanda Elmes. Also surviving are his nieces: Jennifer Rivers (Erskin), Julie Hendrickson, Claudette Fleming (Keith); nephews: Hubert Hendrickson Jr, Clifford Pearman, several great nieces and great nephews. Memorial Gathering is Saturday November 16, 2024 from 2 to 4 PM with a 3 PM service.
