Wilson "Leslie" Rooks, 66

Wilson "Leslie" Rooks died on July 17, 2025. He was born on September 10, 1958 in Waycross, Georgia to Wilson Rooks and Delores Sylvester. A resident of Florida for 39 years, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Okeechobee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with family. If you had ears he was telling you about Jesus.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James and Gladys Rooks; maternal grandparents, Irene Sylvester (William); father, Wilson Rooks (Lucile); mother, Delores Martin (Quentin).

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Melanie Rooks, sons, Dalton Rooks, Dustin Rooks; daughter, Hannah Connell (Taylor); grandchildren, Adaline, Wilson, Caden; adopted grandchildren, Eva and Emory Sanchez; a host of other adopted family; brother, Derral Rooks (Susan); brother in law, Bobby Lee (Teresa); sisters, Denise Rooks Powers and Suzanne Corbitt (Hank); aunt, Tiny Rooks; nieces and nephews, Bryan Rooks (Melinda), Brandy Whitmire (Brian), Lindsey Cook (Aaron), Ryan Powers, Jacob Weaver (Ashley), and Jason Weaver (Kelly); and a host of extended family.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 3 p.m. until service at 4 p.m. at First Baptist of Okeechobee with Pastor Mark McCarter and Lynn Harris officiating. Food and fellowship to follow.
