Marvin was the owner of Southern Transportation Services, Inc., and was an agent for Landstar for over 41 years, retiring in 2021. He was active in the community and was a longstanding member of Porterfield Methodist Church.
Marvin's life revolved around his family, friends, and favorite hobbies: hunting, fishing, and golf. Marvin's love for the outdoors took him and his many friends all over the world, from hunting in South America to playing golf at the Old Course in Scotland. Among his favorite traditions were annual pheasant hunts in the Dakotas and quail hunting trips in South Georgia. When he wasn't chasing after game, you could often find him on the golf course perfecting his swing. Marvin was always happiest when surrounded by nature and good company.
Marvin's true impact lay in the lives he touched with his kindness and generosity. His gentle demeanor and welcoming spirit endeared him to all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Ann White, Ruth LaVerne Livingston, brothers in law Bill Livingston and Roger Crosby, niece Tracy White, and nephews Scott Livingston and Christopher Fordham.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda Fordham Cauley; daughters Katie Cauley Funderburk (Jay) of Albany, Lana Cauley Joiner (Gary) of Lilly, Gina Cauley Strickland of Macon, Sandi Cauley Artlip (Brad) of Alpharetta; sister Marlene White (Ted) of Irwinville; several nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family is especially grateful to the staff and caregivers of the Margaret Jo Hogg Alzhimer’s Outreach Center, Phoebe Hospice, and the caregivers at Evergreen Memory Center, in addition to the prayers and support from many loving friends. Marvin will be deeply missed.
His memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, April 5 at Mathews Funeral Home, followed by a private committal service at Leesburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
