Windsor Pearce Waits

Windsor Pearce Waits (89) of Carmel, passed away at home January 9, 2023.

Windsor was born November 18, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1952. He attended Purdue University before joining the Army. While in the United States Army Signal Corp he was stationed in Alaska where he serviced and repaired communication equipment. He loved his country and was very proud to serve. After his service, Windsor worked at Mallory North American Capacitor Company as an Electrical Engineer for 50 years before retiring. He was a member of the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis. As a devoted 32nd degree Mason, he has now laid his tools down. He was also a Shriner at Murat Temple and bowled in the Murat Bowling League for almost 50 years. He was a member of the Mallory Conservation Club in Mooresville, IN, where he spent time volunteering on projects and enjoying all the outdoors has to offer. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved all of his hunting and fishing trips. Windsor was even a Boy Scout throughout his childhood and teenage years.

He would take his children and grandchildren to the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway every summer since the inaugural in 1994. An annual tradition he enjoyed very much. He was also an Indianapolis Colts season ticket holder for 25 years. Being social, he had countless breakfast and lunch clubs he enjoyed attending over the years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Indianapolis for over 70 years.

Windsor was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Barbara E. Waits. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea L. York (Wally); his son, Windsor T. Waits II; his grandchildren, Brandon T. York (Samantha) and Lauren L. York; great grandchildren, Beckham York, Palmer York, and Jordan York; and sister, Diana Davis.

Services will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, Saturday January 21, 2023. Viewing will be from 9:00-11:00 AM.  Funeral Service will begin at 11:00.  The burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis after the service ends.
