Sheryl Marie (Watness) Strack, 82, of Lawrence, passed away at home on March 13, 2026 after a long battle with cancer.
Sheryl was born March 29, 1945 to the late Norbert and Mildred (Smith) Watness. Growing up, she attended Saint Mark's Grade School, Saint Lawrence Grade School, and Scecina High School. She received her nursing degree from the University of Indianapolis. Sheryl was a member of the Indianapolis Quilting Guild and the Common Threads Quilting Guild. After retiring from Magnetic Instrumentation, Sheryl spent much of her time pursuing her other passions which included fishing, gardening, camping, and pet rescue. After years of study and reflection, she converted from Catholicism to Judaism, living a life of compassion and kindness.
In addition to her parents, Sheryl was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Marie Jenkins. Surviving Sheryl are her daughters, Cynthia Craig and Christina Powers; granddaughters, Kelsey Conder and Abbey Mailloux (Neuenschwander); great-grandson, Malachi Conder; her sisters Mary Therese Olmstead (Davy) and Amy Karas (Tim); her brothers, Wesley Watness (Kathy) and David Watness; and her nieces and nephews, Kevin Olmstead, Laura Berkeihiser, Frank Olmstead, Annie Olmstead, Matthew Jenkins, Karen Tittlebach, Robin Dickelman, Elisabeth Watness, Christian Watness, Carolyn Watness, Megan Hampton, and Sarah Karas.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at Select Hospice as well as Dr. Miller and Dr. Mason for their attention and care.
Graveside services will be on Monday, March 16th at 11 A.M. at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation North Cemetery, 1300 East 161st Street, Westfield, Indiana.
