Winifred Rush Obituary
Mrs. Winifred Newton Rush, 82, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Cokesbury Methodist Church, officiating will be Rev. Rufus Autry.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM Sunday at the church prior to the service.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 15, 2025 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nelson Watkins Newton and Sallie Lerlene Lee Newton; husband, Joseph W. Rush; and her brother, James Carr Newton.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Laura Beasley (Eugene) of Angier, Amanda Russell (Dave) of Kerrville, TX, and Joseph William Rush, III of Berlin, Germany; grandchildren, Natascha Rush, Jennifer Rush and Joshua Russell; sister, Dianne Newton Jernigan of Dunn; special family friends, Chris McCullen, Beth and Gary Beard, James and Megan Biggs, and Janet Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.
