Winnie Michels

Winnie Michels, 92, of Wayne, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Wayne Healthcare Center, Wayne. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Larry Carico and Greg Michels officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Wayne. She was born October 8, 1933 at Stiltner, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas and Myrtle Tabor Spence. Winnie retired from Wayne County Board of Education and was a member of Crockett-Booten United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Loren Michels, a daughter, Sandy Kay Michels, a son, Randy Ray Michels, a sister, Wilma Childers, and a brother, Thomas Spence, Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Gail Pickens of St. Albans, WV; two sons, Loren T. Michels (Brenda) and Gary Michels (Armilda), all of Wayne; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Peters (Frank), Carissa Canterbury (Brian), Gary Michels, II (Whitney), Greg Michels (Kala), Richard Pack, Austin Michels, Mackenze Michels; fifteen great-grandchildren; two "special children" Jason and Melissa Fry. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Wayne Healthcare Center for their exceptional care of Winnie. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne.
