Witold Zalewski

Witold Zalewski, 90, of Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Henryka Zalewski for 67 years. He was born on June 2, 1935, in Poland. In 1974, he and Henryka immigrated to the United States with their three children, determined to create new opportunities for their family. He worked at Taylor & Fenn Company until his retirement.
Witold was known for his huge heart and for wearing his emotions openly. A man with remarkable talent, he possessed a "zlota raczka" and could fix or build nearly anything. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he was generous with his time and abilities. He found joy in simple pleasures, especially fishing and tending to his garden, where he nurtured life with the same care, he showed to those he loved.
Family was the center of Witold's world. In addition to his devoted wife, Henryka, he leaves behind his children: Danuta Lukasik and her husband Tomasz of Tolland, Wieslaw Zalewski and his wife Marzena of Coventry and Henry Zalewski and his wife Bonny of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Annette Spadjinske, Violet Giberson, Robert Zalewski, Diana March, Ashley Berger, Devin Zalewski, Kayla Passamano, along with their spouses. Witold was also blessed with 12 great grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
Relatives and friends are invited to come on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. His funeral service will begin on Friday, December 5, at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain.
