Wolfgang Meyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral & Cremation Services and Cemetery - North Olmsted on Dec. 30, 2025.
Wolfgang "Fred" Meyer, age 89, of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, passed away on December 25, 2025. Born in Bremen, Germany, Fred was the son of the late August and Anna Meyer. His journey brought him to the United States in 1953, where he built a life defined by hard work, devotion, and deep love for his family.

Fred was the cherished husband of 66 years to Hedwig "Hedy" (née Konrad) Meyer, his lifelong partner and constant source of joy. He was the loving father of Andreas "Andy" (deceased) (Tracey), Robert (Renee), and Heidi Cougill. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Kelly, Kathy, Will, Katie, Alex, Bob, Brooke, Max, Emma, Abby, Blair, and Donna, and as a great grandfather to fourteen beloved great grandchildren; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Gerda, Hanna, and Renate. Fred is also remembered fondly by his sister–in-law and brothers in law Margaret and Thomas Weaver, Aleo Sica, and Hans Jurgen Nadler, as well as extended family members Marion Loepp, Susan Glowacki, and the late Adam Cougill.

A skilled craftsman and dedicated entrepreneur, pouring his talent and determination into every project. Outside of work, he found joy in working on classic cars, playing sports (especially soccer), traveling, and spending time with the family he adored. His warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty touched everyone who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Fred's memory.

Wolfgang was my favorite uncle with a big heart and so much warmth when our families visited each other. He was kind and dedicated to his family and extended family as well. My Dad and he had a special bond; more like brothers than in-laws. I am saddened by his passing but will always remember him with fondness and love

My uncle (Onkel Wolfgang) was a true friend and mentor to me (Martina "Tina") as I was growing up. He and Tante Hedy always took good care of me whenever we would visit (which was often). My mom (Gerda), his sister, was like a surrogate mother to him as he grew up in a very turbulent time. Some fond memories are riding ponies with Andy, styling Heidi's hair when she was a little girl, Bob waking everyone early in the morning when he was 18 months old while we were all trying to sleep; Onkel Wolfgang's golf lesson - he taught me the beginning steps of how to play when I was 12; Tante Hedy's delicious meals and Uncle Fred's amazing 1939 Lincoln K, which we transported to the Dearborn, MI Classic Car Show years ago.
He was and is truly loved by his family. We will always cherish his kind and good spirit. He will remain in our hearts and minds forever. May the Lord bless and keep him now and forever. Amen.

Herzlichst Beileid von Liz und Robert Filippi. Fred was always fun to be around. Our fondest memories were club and car show related. We'll miss him.
