Ronald Joseph Bukala (60) entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born on May 28, 1965, to the late John and Mary (Sydorko) Bukala and was raised in
Lakewood, Ohio. He was a 1983 graduate of Lakewood High School. Not only was Ron a stellar athlete in baseball and basketball, he was also a member of the National Honor Society. He received an athletic scholarship for college and went on to play baseball and basketball at Tiffin University. Lakewood High was also the place where he met the love of his life, Amy.
Ron was a faithful husband to Amy (nee Dukles) of 36 years; loving father to Hayley (Isaac), Andrew (Emily), and Sarah (Anthony); and the best Grandpa to Wyatt Ron and Payden Isabel. Ron was a beloved younger brother to Kathy (Phil) Smith, the late John (Regina) Bukala, and the late David Bukala. He was also a loving brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many.
Ron has been reunited with his faithful four-legged companion, Cindy, whom he adored. His seven granddogs were also near and dear to his heart.
Ron was dedicated to his craft as a Tool and Die maker. He worked for the Dukles Family business founded by his father-in-law, the late J. James Dukles and brothers-in-law James and Marc for over 35 years. Despite being an incredibly hardworking man with an exceptional work ethic, he always made time for his family and friends.
He spent years teaching religious classes (PSR) at St. Brendan's Church and coaching his children's sports teams. A lifelong fan of Cleveland sports, he also loved golf, bowling, and working in his yard. Competitive by nature, he excelled at everything he did. Ron was happiest playing games and cards with family which often involved lighthearted Ukrainian banter with his siblings. He enjoyed sharing a bourbon or beer with friends on occasion, where everyone enjoyed his witty humor. His mischievous smile will always be remembered.
Ron spent over three months at Ames Family Hospice House receiving exceptional care and support during his final months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ames Family Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Westlake, Ohio. He was a gentle man of few words and his kindness and generosity were unmatched. Ron was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and neighbors. He led his life with a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone that knew him.
We find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the unconditional love he gave, the laughs and one-liners shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
A prayer service will be led by Amy's cousin, the Reverend John P. Singler on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 3pm with visitation following from 4-8pm at the Westwood Abbey Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road,
North Olmsted, OH 44070. A private inurnment will be held.
