Woodie Oneta Gaddis, 97, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Green Meadow Haven in Coushatta, LA.
Oneta was born on December 5, 1925 in Spring Ridge, LA. She was a 1943 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School, Pleasant Hill, LA.
Oneta was an active church member first at Spring Ridge Baptist Church and later at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Her participation there, which was so meaningful to her, continued until she moved to Green Meadow Haven. Oneta remained strong in her faith until the end of her life.
Oneta was the sixth child, and only daughter, of Albert Sidney Gaddis and Effie Dora Phillips Gaddis. She was preceded in death by five of her brothers and their wives. Those five brothers (all World War II veterans) were Everette Eugene Gaddis (Neet),Herman Sidney Gaddis (Helen), Joseph Jefferson Gaddis (Jerry), James Roland Gaddis (Virginia) and Zane Gray Gaddis (Vonceil).
Oneta is survived by her younger brother Edgar Sibley Gaddis (Joy). She is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews and their families.
Oneta leaves a legacy of caring. One way she expressed her love was by sending cards and writing letters. Her faithful remembrance of others will be cherished by friends and family, always.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
