Marcus Post Middleton, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Texarkana, Texas.
Born on August 5, 1936, in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, to Josie and George Middleton, Marcus lived a life full of adventure, hard work, and heart. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1954 and married the love of his life, Bobbie Bergeron Middleton, on June 3, 1965.
Marcus was truly a jack of all trades. Throughout his life, he worked as a truck driver, served his country in the U.S. Army as a small arms repairman, and took on the tough jobs of an oil rig roughneck and pest control technician. His work took him far and wide, and his travels-through both personal ventures and military service-which included a trip to the Middle East and Europe.
In his younger years, Marcus had a passion for sports and thrill-he played basketball and even tried his hand at bull riding. He loved fishing, and in his later years, you could often find him enjoying a good game of dominoes.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Josie and George Middleton; sister, Martha Payne; nephew, Chad Bryan; and grandson, Alex Middleton.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Bobbie Bergeron Middleton; his two sons, Michael and wife, Sarah Middleton, and Brett and wife, Delilah Middleton; and 14 grandchildren: Monica, Matthew, Zach, Ben, Callie, Donovan, Chase, Layla, Chloe, Blake, Travis, Gaven, and Jenna.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly recommends making a donation to a charity of your choice in Marcus's honor.
