Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Wyendlen Fay “Wendy” LaHaye, 83, of Ville Platte announces her passing on Sunday, July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Father Stephen Pellessier officiating.
Wendy graduated from McNeese State University, exemplifying the strength of a mother who balanced her academics with her duties at home. She was a full-time mother to her four cherished children, Chuck, Chris, David and Lisa Lynn LaHaye, and this role was one she embraced with the utmost joy.
Wendy's career as a high school English teacher spanned various schools across Evangeline Parish, where she left an indelible mark on the hearts of countless young minds. She recognized the needs of her students, often acting as a champion for the underdog. Her remarkable ability to listen and offer sage advice made her not just a teacher, but a trusted confidant to many. Her words resonated deeply, and her opinions, though freely shared, were always grounded in love and understanding.
She loved sitting comfortably on the couch with popcorn and Chips Ahoy cookies, engrossed in her favorite books. She had a natural flair for solving crossword puzzles, finding pleasure in the challenge they presented. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond academics; Wendy also coached tennis and was often found photographing the excitement on the sidelines during sporting events. Her passion for life was contagious, and she inspired those around her with her enthusiasm.
Wendy is survived by her devoted sons, Chuck, Chris, and David LaHaye; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Eliza, J.D., and Luke Allen LaHaye. They carry forward her legacy of kindness, determination, and the importance of education.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Lynn LaHaye; her daughter, Lisa Lynn LaHaye; parents, Isidore "Zedar" and Dula Fruge Pellerin, who undoubtedly instilled in her the values she carried throughout her life.
A visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayer in her honor at 11:00 AM by Deacon Chuck Ortego.
