Yashwant S Dhatt

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Yashwant Dhatt, a devoted husband of nearly 60 years, father, grandfather, and esteemed professor, who left us on July 10, 2025 at the age of 86.
Born in a small village in India, Yashwant's journey was one of perseverance, intellect, and quiet strength. He immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s, carrying with him a deep love for learning and an unshakable belief in the power of education. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Finance from Georgia State University, a milestone that marked the beginning of a remarkable academic career.
For over 20 years, Yashwant served as a professor of finance at Colorado State University, where he was known for his thoughtful teaching, rigorous standards, and genuine care for his students. He even authored his own finance textbook, which he proudly used in his classroom-tailored to reflect his teaching philosophy and deep understanding of the subject.
Outside of academia, Yashwant was a man of quiet joys and always offered a smile. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing tennis, and taking long walks. He also held a deep connection to his roots, especially his land in India, where he lovingly tended to fruit trees. Among his greatest pleasures were the mangos he grew and savored throughout his life, and more recently, the bananas that brought him simple delight.
Above all, Yashwant was a dedicated family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ravinder Dhatt; his son, Ajay Dhatt, and daughter-in-law, Kristen Dhatt; and his three adored grandchildren, Justin, Mira, and Brady Dhatt. His wisdom, humility, and unwavering support shaped the lives of his family and left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He led by example-with kindness, patience, and a deep sense of responsibility.
A funeral service will be held on July 18 at 1pm at Parker Funeral Home & Crematory.
