Yixin Yan, age 82, of Garnet Valley, PA passed away on August 30, 2021 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. She was born in Nantong of Jiangsu province, China, and lived in Tianjin before moving to the United States of America 16 years ago. Yixin went to Beijing Agricultural University and became an agronomist. She was instrumental in introducing broccoli to Tianjin, a Northern city where broccoli is not native. Thanks to her, farmers in Tianjin were able to plant broccoli. They were also able to get improved crops of tomatoes and other vegetables. Although the land was limited, she kept a very nice garden of grapes, flowers and vegetables in the apartment she had with her family in Nankai University. She enjoyed candies and other sweets till the end of her life. Yixin is preceded in death by her husband, Yimou Liao. She is survived by her two daughters; Jiangtian Liao and Jiangying Liao, and two grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 10:00-10:30 AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA, followed by services at 10:30. The funeral service will be livestreamed, which can be viewed by visiting . Interment will follow at Chester Bethel Cemetery, Wilmington, DE. Online condolences may be made by visiting .
